Air compressor (clutch question) P0108 2000 chevy malibu (Please help)?
I just had a new intake manifold gasket put on my car, a day after it was returned I got a service engine light with a P0108 (map sensor code) when shifting from park to drive if shifts really hard. and about 45% of the time from from a standstill and the second I release my foot off the gas the car jerks and makes a loud clunk just like when I put it in drive. Now the car make a loud rattling noise . I had a total stranger approach me and said that my compressor (clutch) was going bad that is what the noise was. The place where I had my intake manifold done at told me to basically jump off a bridge …..Is my car safe to drive? What should I get repaired 1st ??
That intake manifold gasket is lose or different from the original. Your MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor will scream it the pressure is different from what it was calibrated for. 1st. kick that place in the pants, they are stupid and they should at least check the gasget to make sure its on properly.
the loud clunk is more likely associated with your transmission shifting poorly. are there any other codes besides the MAP? Your compressor clutch would engage as soon as you turn your A/C on. I suppose that could be it as well, but i’m sticking with the transmission. Do you have an aftermarket Air cleaner, or your standard one.
MAP misfunction —-> poor air/fuel mixture —> rough shifts.
did you have your repair done at a Chevrolet dealership? If you are going to repair something, start with the MAP code.
