Lifting 75+ Pounds After C-Section?
Hi Everyone!
I just had a C-Section a little over 3 weeks ago and am still feeling quite a bit of pain when I try to lift anything heavier then the baby. I will return back to work 3 weeks from now. My job is working with Jet Fuel in trucks with hoses that weigh at the lightest around 75+ pounds in the U.S. Air Force. I’m concerned with the fact that even at my peak physical strength the hoses were a bit hard to manage and was extremely tiring on my body (I was 5′2 115 pounds lifting hoses for anywhere from 8-12 hours a day…you get the picture haha).
Will I be able to go straight back to work after the 6 weeks or should I see if they could extend the lighter duty for a few weeks?

No decent doctor will release you back to work until you’re 8 weeks post-partum (it’s 6 weeks for vaginal and 8 weeks for c-section). This is especially true if your job is strenuous. He probably would if you had a desk job, but not lifting heavy items. I’d ask him for a note (at the very least) that tells your employer you’re to do light duty for a few weeks. See if they can transfer you to a different department for a while. Is there ANY way you can take off a few extra weeks??
