Air Ratchet Wrench
New headgasket 5.0 Mustang 1987?
Im trying to install a new headgasket because I had a coolant leak. I have removed all components, except for some kind of metal air line that runs directly from the air pump to the cylinder heads at the back of the motor. I cant figure out how to remove this air line and it seems impossible to remove the heads without disconnecting them. I see the bolts but I cant get a ratchet on them and a standard wrench doesn’t give me enough torque to break the bolts loose. Is there a special tool or certain way to remove this line? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I was just doing that same job.
You just need a longer wrench. You can either interlock two combination wrenches to double the length (put the open end ear into the box end of the 2nd one) or you can get a pipe that’ll fit over your wrench. YOu can also buy really long wrenches, but they’re usually in pricey brands.
Once you learn how to interlock wrenches you’ll do it frequently.
