Battery Milwaukee Cordless
Thermistor questions about which one to use?
Cordless tool battery packs typically cut off at 70°c during charging to prevent over-heating. The thermistor in my pack is 6.8kΩ 5% tolerance. 6K8J is written on the thermistor. Thats all the info I know about the thermistor in a Milwaukee 14.4v battery. Most thermistors I looked at in Digikey.com specify resistance at 25°c. Do I have to find a thermistor thats 6.8kΩ 5% at 70°c or will the ones at 25°c do the same thing?
The old thermistor had no other visible markings than the 6K8J. It was approx 1/4″ diameter disc, burnt red in color similiar to an Advil pill. This is for a battery pack rebuild. All the new cells are soldered together and I just need a new thermistor. The old one was completely crumbled and one lead was off.
What do you want to do? Replace the thermistor with another that does what?
Rereading, and guessing, do you just want another thermistor to replace the one you have? Can’t you buy another 6K8J?
Specs are usually at 25°C. the “J” is probably a measure of resistance change vs temperature.
