Bit Holder Driver
In Texas is the only required coverage on your vehicle for liability. This is the insurance for damage you may cause to other people or their property, if you pay a car accident cause.
Many people have an additional type of coverage called Personal Injury Protection, or "PIP" for short. As a personal injury attorney, I recommend that everyone have this coverage on their car insurance policy. It is not expensive for minimum coverage of $ 2,500.00, and not much else to get this coverage even higher.
PIP coverage for your medical expenses and pay 80% of lost wages in the event, you have been injured in a car accident regardless of that, who is to blame. PIP covers you and your passengers in your vehicle at the time of the collision.
I am of the number of clients that I represent do not surprise a claim with their own insurance for PIP benefits file. In I would even say that more than half the people I represent at least reservations about this. The most common reason why people do not file is that they are afraid that increase their insurance rates or that their insurance canceled, even though they are not to blame. This despite the fact that they have paid their hard-earned dollars for this optional cover, which is designed to be used in its precise location! When I tell people it's a bit like installing a phone line in your House, but want to call any more, because you are afraid the phone companies to terminate your service.
Remember, if an insurance company, the Interest rates increase or terminate Service decides they are much more interested in the potential risk that an insured person represents than any other factor. Simply put, if you walk around drive recklessly and cause accidents, renew your actions to collect the insurance most likely your rates or decline your policy. But really, it makes no sense, the policyholder makes a PIP claim if someone else caused the accident to cancel. Would not that be a bit like punishing because You are a meteor fell from the sky and crashed through the hood of your car?
I believe everybody should have in Texas at least minimal PIP coverage and above all should not be afraid to use it when appropriate! If you have any questions about PIP coverage, ask your insurance company or an experienced car accident lawyer.
