does having the ac on full blast help it get cold faster?
I was wondering, on a hot summer day, when you first start the car, does blasting the ac on full power help it get cold faster than turning the color nob all the way to the blue and leaving the number nob on 1 or 2.
Yes, it will. As someone stated earlier, the AC compressor runs at one speed, it’s maximum all the time, to produce the cooling for the air. Now, depending on what speed you set your fan to will determine how much air is passed through that cooling system to be cooled down, the more air, the more cooling of that air will happen and quicker. As someone else also said, it will have to cool down the duct work as well, so again the more air you move passed that ductwork, the quicker the heat transfer will take place.
As an experiment, start your car and set the fan on low or medium low and see how fast it cools the air around you and how quickly you feel more comfortable, then try it on high. You’ll soon figure out for yourself that on high the air around you will be cooled quicker than when it was on low. It’s all about how much air you can pass through the AC cooling system, the more air the quicker the cooling. Since the cooling compressor runs at one speed, maximum, all the time, take advantage of it and pass as much air through to get cooled down. I know if I left my fan on low I would cook and never get it cool enough, I set it on high until it feels good then turn it down as needed.
