What is a Hudson burr?
Towards the end of the film (and presumably the novel by Lloyd C. Douglas) “Magnificent Obsession”, Doctor Rock Hudson expresses self-doubt: “But I’ve never used a Hudson burr”. (He’s faced with a trepanning.)
(Incidentally, now I know what “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” was satirising!)
It’s a metal surgical drill bit used to bore thru the cranium, it has a ball shaped cutting head as opposed to the normal shaped drill bit,and comes in various sizes.
