composite fissure sealant query?
I’m just back from my check up and looking at the estimate it states I need a composite fissure sealant – this is an NHS place
Does that mean i’m getting a white coating?
Is the bit of decay drilled out first?

You need sealants because you have deep grooves on the biting surfaces of your back teeth which are too deep and narrow for the toothbrush to get at. Then food and bacteria sit in there and cause decay.
It’s a very simple procedure. They just etch the grooves first (which prepares the tooth for the filling to stick but also removes debris), rinse and dry, and trace the liquid composite material in the grooves, then cure it with a light for about 30 seconds.
