How do you replace an air conditioner fan motor that has a 3 prong capacitor with one that has a two prong?
I’m trying to replace our AC compressor fan motor. The old one had a three prong capacitor with one wire running to the contactor then the fan motor, one wire running directly to the motor and a 3rd wire running to the actual compressor. The motor the parts store gave me is only a two prong capacitor. I know both of the wires from the fan motor go to different sides, but now where do I put the wire from the actual compressor?
No, your old fan motor connected to the units dual run capacitor. Just hook the new motor to the new capacitor using the two brown wires coming off the new motor. And leave the other capacitor alone.
