New cordless drill emits a spark?

Just bought a new B&D cordless drill. It emits a spark when you press the on button. Is this normal or defective. I can remember my dads old corded drills showing a spark while it was on. He said it was part of the (something) can’t remember. My partner says he’s taking it back but I don’t think it’s anything to fret about.

all electric motors have what are called brush,s there small magnets that ride up against the armature in the motor ,if you look in the back part of the handle you will see vent slots for ventilation of the motor, look in there and press the trigger if you see some sparks that’s what is doing it,if it is constant or some place Else there’s a problem.personally i would return it and see what the dealer has to say.
