I recently cut the tips of a couple of my fingers off with an electric planer….?
now I need to change the dressings on my wounds but the bandage is stuck down pretty hard and it hurts a s**tload to touch, any tips on loosening the bandage without me crying like a baby?
Try a short soak in some sterile saline solution (for a few minutes). (You could also consider hydrogen peroxide, but that might be more uncomfortable.) That should help soften the tissues that are clinging so tenaciously to the bandage. Be sure to use a “non-stick” bandage, like Telfa, when you replace the bandage; of course, here “non-stick” is a misnomer: I have seen plenty of these bandages stick, too, but they’re usually easier to remove than plain gauze.
