Gravity feed airgun compressor?

I have recently purchased a Spear and Jackson Project Air HVLP gravity feed paint gun and I am looking for information on what would be a suitable air compressor in the 15 – 50 psi range.

In order to figure out whether a compressor is suitable you need to know both the cfm requirement as well as the psi requirement. Most compressor driven HVLP guns require something like 7-10 cfm @ 40 psi. I have no idea what the Spear Jackson gun requires and it’s not noted on their website.

A suitable compressor will put out at least as much air as the gun requires and a large enough holding tank to keep the gun going without constantly running.

A 5-10 hp compressor with an 80 gal tank should be plenty big enough and you might get away with something smaller.
