How do I get rid of this scar tissue?!?
I got a monroe piercing January 12 of 2010 (I got it done at a professional). Everything was fine until about a week later, I noticed that a small tag or flap of skin was on the inside of my lip around the flat disc backing. I thought it would go away in a week or so, so I paid no attention to it. After 3 weeks it was still there. So I asked my friend who also has had a lip piercing for about 3 years, she said she has never had anything like that and her boyfriend said he had it on his ears from where he was stretching them he said that it would go away. It didn’t. So my friend and I went to the guy who pierced my lip. He told me it was a type of scar tissue( I forgot what it was). I just want to know if there is any way to get rid of it, and what the scar tissue is called. If you are a professional body piercer and you are familiar with this then please help me out!

are you talking about hypertrophic scarring? they’re really common with piercings and tend to go away on their own. you can make it go away faster by babying your piercing and taking good care of it. by this, i mean sea salt soaks and tea tree oil remedies. here, you can read up on it: http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Hypertrophic_scarring
