Cabinetry – what size drill bit is equivalent to 8mm?

I’m building cabinet doors and using euro hinges. You have to drill a 1 3/8″ hole with a forstner bit, then two small “8mm” holes for the screws/plugs. My drill bits do not have metric markings on them, in fact I’m not even sure where I would acquire those. The funny thing is that these hardware packs, are manufactured in freakin’ China and then sold across the U.S., including Texas. Texas does not use the metric system. Home Depot will hear about this, too.

Get a set of metric drills (e.g. eBay item #160438347980) for $1.50.
Section 205b of the 1975 metric conversion act restricts US customary units to non-business activities.
Write to the president of Home Depot and ask him if Home Depot is a non-business activity or if he’s just disloyal to the US government. Either way, sue him for at least $1.50.

If you’re desperate you could cobble the job with a 5/16″ until your proper drill bits arrive.
