A Look At An Impact Wrench
Many people are used to seeing impact wrenches used at major construction sites. The wrenches are large and are an impressive piece of equipment. However, it is now possible to get an impact wrench that is the perfect size for home projects. These wrenches are versatile, functional and easy to use.
An impact wrench is especially useful when a person is doing a DIY project that will include putting together several planks or supports in or around their home. Building a deck can be time consuming and require many extra steps when a person chooses to use regular outdoor nails and a hammer. However, using bolts to secure the slats of the deck to the wall, support beams, and frame of the deck takes much less time and can be done easily.
A person will find that the 1/2″ or 3/8″ sockets are most popular for home use. However, the sockets can be found in many sizes and the most common socket size for many heavy construction projects is 3 1/2″. The wrenches used for home use are much smaller versions of the wrenches used on most heavy construction projects.
When a person is using a wrench that is powered with compressed air, they often will purchase the wrench and rent the compressor when needed. The tubing for the wrench is normally included with the wrench, but some people who are doing a project stretching across a large space around their home, may select a longer tube for the compressor.
The design of the wrenches makes the very easy to handle. They have an ergonomic grip to keep the wrists from being injured when they are used regularly. The wrench has a 65 decibel per minute noise level and people using the wrenches are encouraged to wear ear plugs to protect hearing.
Reading the users manual and warranty will be important. You will want to make sure that replacement parts are available for the wrench and the length of the warranty. When you are comparing wrenches, it will be most beneficial if you choose one that can be repaired easily and has parts readily available.
Using protective gear when you are using the impact wrench will keep shrapnel from injuring you if you hit a bolt wrong when using the wrench. The speed of the rotor makes it possible for shrapnel to fly up from the wrench and cause injury easily so wearing protective goggles and a thick hat will help to keep you save during your project.
