1.Different of pipe and tube:
*Pipe is a tube or hollow cylinder for the conveyance of fluid, gas and sometimes other materials. The terms ‘pipe’ and ‘tubing’ are almost interchangeable. ‘Pipe’ is generally specified by the internal diameter (ID) whereas ‘tube’ is usually defined by the outside diameter (OD) but may be specified by any combination of dimensions (OD, ID, wall thickness), depending upon which are considered the most important to the designer. ‘Tube’ is often made to custom sizes and may often have more specific sizes and tolerances than pipe. Also the term “tubing” can be applied to tubes of a non-cylindrical nature (i.e. square tubing). The term ‘tubing’ is more widely used in the USA and ‘pipe’ elsewhere in the world.
Both “pipe” and “tube” imply a level of rigidity and permanence, whereas a ‘hose’ is usually portable and flexible. Pipe may be specified by standard pipe size designations, such as Nominal Pipe Size (in the US), or by nominal, outside, or inside diameter and wall thickness. Many industrial and government standards exist for the production of pipe and tubing.

2.The tubing and casing role on application of oil and gas :
Casing is a metal tube used during drilling an oil well in combination with cement to sequentially stabilize recently drilled formation.
Casing that is cemented in place aids the drilling process in several ways:
-Isolates different zones (that may have different pressures or fluids – known as zonal isolation) in the drilled formation from one another
-Seals off high pressure zones from the surface, avoiding potential for a blowout
-Provides a strong upper foundation to use high-density drilling fluid to continue drilling deeper
-Provides a smooth internal bore for installing production equipment
-Isolates contaminating or corrosive fluids
-A slightly different metal string, called production tubing, is often used without cement in the smallest casing of a well completion to contain production fluids and convey them to the surface from an underground reservoir.
[Production tubing is a tubular used in a wellbore through which production fluids are produced.
*Production tubing is run into the drilled well after the casing is run and cemented in place. Along with other components that constitute the production string, it provides a continuous bore from the production zone to the wellhead through which oil and gas can be produced. It is usually between five and ten centimeters in diameter and is held inside the casing through the use of expandable packing devices.
If there is more than one zone of production in the well, up to four lines of production tubing can be run.]
3.Water pipe under sub sea :
-Carbon Steel pipe EFW cement lined is the best option.
-You can go for fibre-glass lined Carbon Steel pipe.
-You can go for frp piping,but the problem is breakage.
Here, the piping design matters.
*In sea water,there is a chance of chloride attack,so stainless steel are vulnerable to SCC[Stress Corrosion Cracking] and also its a very costly affair.It is not advisable to use stainless steel.
