How do I cut the base of a resin statue?

Statue is 6 feet tall, I must cut off one corner of the rectangular base in order for the statue to fit into the space to be displayed. I also must drill 4 holes for carriage bolts in order to anchor the statue down. Should I use a hand saw to cut the base? Power saber saw, portable band saw? What type of drill bit should I use for the holes through the base?

Assuming we’re talking about a hardened resin matrix (Polyurethane or Acrylic), you would be better off using a cutting disk radial saw. Anything else would likely cause the statue to crack.

For the drill, use the same type of bit as you would use for metal, but at a slower RPM. Ideally, you would also put masking tape over the area you’ll be sinking your bit prior to drilling. Remember, if something doesn’t feel like it’s going right, it probably isn’t and the smart thing to do is stop, rethink your plan, then re-engage the project.
