Repair Kit Rethread
Can i drive to the mechanic without 1 spark plug?
A spark plug shot out yesterday. The threads are stripped and I bought a kit to rethread it. However, I don’t have a socket that fits down the opening to rethread it.
I need to get it to a mechanic who can do the repair, but I am unsure if I can drive it to him. It’s less than 15 miles. Will I cause more damage? It sounds awful, so my guess is yes.

Not a good idea for two reasons. 1) Your engine will continue to send fuel to that cylinder while it is running, and 2) your ignition system will continue to fire voltage through your spark plug wire that will be dangling somewhere in your engine compartment.
The unburned fuel will have to go somewhere. It will mix into your engine oil (not good) and likely push into your hot exhaust system, and perhaps even spray out of the hole for the spark plug. Keeping in mind #2 above, worst case scenario is unburnt fuel spraying on a hot engine with a nearby wire dangling with 40,000+ volts looking for somewhere to ground.
Crack open that piggy bank and spend the money on a reputable tow service.
