Ways of Tying a Rectangular Scarf

Rectangular scarf can be tied in different ways like an ascot knot, European loop, fake knot, neck wrap and crown wrap.

Scarves have a variety of forms, colors, designs or textures making them the most versatile and ideal fashion accessory for any occasion, season or outfit. A rectangular scarf for example is a great addition to any outfit. It is only up to you on how you tie your scarves to make it appear unique and stylish. Stated below are examples on how to tie a rectangular scarf.

Ascot knot

Place the scarf around your shoulder and let the ends hang equally at the front. Take the right end and pass it under the left end of the scarf. Bring up the right end up and pass it through the open section at your neck to make a knot. Both ends facing downward, adjust their lengths equally.

European loop

Fold the scarf three times lengthwise or according to your choice of width and fold it in half making it form a hoop on the other end of the scarf. Place the scarf around your neck with the hoop on either side of the shoulder and the ends at the opposite side of the shoulder. Take the ‘non-hoop’ end of the scarf and pass it through the hoop of the other end. Tighten the loop as desired.

Fake knot

Fold the scarf lengthwise and place it around your neck with the ends hanging equally at the front. Make a knot on the right side of the end. Bring the left end to the right side and insert it into the knot. Tighten and adjust the knot as desired.

Neck wrap

Fold the scarf lengthwise to desired width. Place the scarf around the neck and hang the ends equally on each side. Cross both ends twice. Bring both ends at the back of the neck and make a simple knot.

Crown wrap

Place an unfolded rectangular scarf over the head with one side longer than the other.  Gather both ends of the scarf at the nape and cross them at the back of the head.  Twist the longer end making it look like a rope and place the twisted end over the head, a little higher from the edge, until it reach the shorter end again at the back of the head. Tie both ends together.
