Sub woofer circuit board question?
I have a Klipsch KSW-50 and I absolutely love it!
The problem I am facing with it though is that it does not sport an ‘always on’ option, it only has “off” and “auto”. The auto setting works fine for day to day usage but does not prove favorable when I listen to music in very low decibel levels.
This is what I plan to do: There is one relay on the pcb that clicks on, thereby turning on the sub when a signal is sensed. I plan to saw this relay open using a saw blade and jam it in the ON position.
Does anyone think this is a bad idea? I’ve originally wanted to short-circuit the relay’s connectors below the pcb but I see markings neither on the relay nor on the pcb so I can’t really identify the terminals on the relay.
I’ve tried turning down other channels, it still isn’t enough.. my listening levels are very low.
The subwoofer is ok as far as turning on but my listening decibel levels are extreme, hence the problem.
Yes, a very bad idea. Do you have the ability to turn down your side channels? Do that, and then the signal output will be high enough to kick on the sub. You have to adjust the sub level too, but then you are putting out more signal into the sub.
If not, identify which one is which on the pcb. That would be my LAST resort, because adjusting levels (in receiver setup) is so non-invasive. Kinda like having surgery to cure a headache that aspirin would have fixed….
