How to transfer tadpoles?
Every winter my tarp pool cover gets filled with rain water, and now in the spring, frogs lay their eggs in the standing water. So i just noticed the eggs and i want to transfer them to one of my ponds. They will have to travel in my car.
1.So my other pond has trout, and a few other types of small fish, and i will most likely be re-stocking soon. it connects to a very slow and small stream so it’s very gentle running water, if not still (unless there is heavy rain) does that sound suitable for tadpole eggs> if so, then where is the best place in the pond?
2. and also how should i transfer them safely? if the pond is not suitable then i have another small frog pond with no fish, so i will be moving them either way.

*** I have to move them before they hatch, or else they will all die when we drain the pool. So if a few tadpole casualties happen while transferring them, at least i’m saving most of them
You should put a big bowl or container and scoop the eggs up in it. If the eggs are attached to a stick or something make sure that that object is in the container.
You should just let the eggs sit in the water container until they hatch. You should do this because it is safer for the tadpoles. Other fish or even frogs and tadpoles eat small tadpoles. If they can grow without these dangers they are much more likely to survive, but sadly some will die of other causes.Now you said you need to travel in a car to get to the pond. I am assuming your house is near the pond so you will need to travel in the car. To do this you just have to make sure none of the eggs spill out of the container in the car. The best way to do this is to have a top for the container and have it secure in your car. You can hold the container or put it in a box and secure it. You could even put it in a box and put a seat belt around it.
You don’t need to feed the eggs anything because they eat their own egg, that’s how they get out. When they hatch you should put some algae from the pond you have in the container. Tadpoles eat that and other small things in the water we cant see.
So therefore, you have to change the water. To do this get some water from your pond. Then take some of the water out of the container with the tadpoles and replace it with the new water from the stream. This will give your tadpoles food and will be healthy for them because that is the water they drink.
Once the tadpoles are big, maybe the size or a quarter not including tail. You can put them in the pond. They are safer when they are bigger because they can defend themselves.
