Torx Screwdriver Open
Remove a screw with a damaged screw head?
I have a Torx screw with a damaged head. The part where you stick the screwdriver tip in is damaged. This Torx screw is part of my Xbox 360, and is the only thing preventing me from opening it up. It was damaged when I was first attempting to open the Xbox 360 so I could fix the RROD (Red Ring of Death). I tried too long to unscrew with a Philips. Later when I got a Torx, it unscrewed and rescrewed fine.
Now I need to open it up again because apparently the source of the RROD is somewhere else inside the Xbox 360 motherboard. I tried to unscrew the screw with a Torx, but it’s damaged to the point that the screw slides when I try to unscrew it. When I go the opposite direction, it offers some resistance, then continues to slide.
Hand tools would be preferred, as I lost my power drill during a move.
get a screw extractor. available at sears and some hardware stores . just follow directions in package. ive used them before. they work.
