Variable Speed Drill

Electric Drill problem, any experts here?

I have a rather new close quarter 3/8 variable speed drill that I bought on eBay. I was real fond of it. Its probably got less than an hour of actual use, All of a sudden the “speed governor” quit working. Now, within about 15-30 seconds after turning it on it goes simply wild and starts to smell like its burning up. It really screams. Needless to say, I shut it off in a hurry. Of course its not useable in this condition. It’s a brand I never heard of, (Performance Tool), Model J1Z-10T. Since I bought it on Ebay, and there isn’t any address on the label, I don’t believe I’m able to send it anywhere for repair, (that I know of). Anybody have an idea what happened to it and is there anything I can do to fix it.

The drill was new when purchased, and was used a dozen or so times before deleloping the problem.

Sounds like the bushing in the amatuer is shot works real well for short time when cool then as it warms up makes squealling noise. The person you bought it from on ebay in all likely hood new this and was reason for getting rid of it. You may find more info on repair places at local tool store that deals in power tools
