Versa Pak Gold
Would 7.5 volts burn out a 7.2 volt motor.?
I have a few of the Black & Decker power tools that uses two of the Versa Pak batteries. Each silver battery is 3.6 volt 1.2AH. And the gold batteries are 3.6v 2ah. If I used an external power source such as 7.5 volt at 2 amps and modify it to be able to use it. Would it destroy or burnout the 7.2 volt? I think the .3 volt difference would not hurt quiet at much, but could do damage in the long run over use. What do you think? Unless you could help me find a what to build a circuit to output 7.2 volts at 2 amps.
Here a link to the batteries.

7.5V will not burn out 7.2V motor. It will cost you more to build a power supply to run your power tools than to buy tools that just plug into 120V. You will need a lot more than 2A to run these tools. At stall speeds, those motors will draw 20 Amps. I have ran my RC airplane which came with 8.4V batteries on some super 9.6V batteries without any problems. I also run my 9.6V drill using a 4AH 12V battery, no problems, does not smoke or smell and runs great. These motors mostly run on current. A bit of over voltage will not damage them, not in the short usage cycles. Now, running a 9V motor on 12V for hundreds of hours might cause heat problems and premature failures.
My advice, find a cheap 12V battery (I get them for free at work) and run your power tools on 12V.
You must have pleanty of good current to run your tools. You can also buy battery packs, 7.2V used for RC cars, these will punch out the amps.
